Scouts Sleep Out held on Filbert Way on the night of 20-21 March
Groups from across the county have raised £1,800 to help those in need
Experience was held in partnership with The Bridge - Homelessness to Hope
A total of 68 Scouts and 11 leaders took part in the Scouts Sleep Out, delivered in partnership with The Bridge - Homelessness to Hope, spending the night of 20-21 March at the home of Leicester City. Representing groups from Broughton Astley, Claybrook & Ullesthorpe, Gilmorton, Huncote & Croft, Kilworth, Leire & Dunton, and Lutterworth, the participants united for a shared cause - and have already raised an impressive £1,800 to support individuals on their journey away from homelessness.
The evening began with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of King Power Stadium, offering Scouts a unique glimpse into one of the city’s most iconic venues.
Attention then turned to the purpose of the event, with a powerful presentation delivered by The Bridge team. The session highlighted the realities of homelessness and the challenges faced by those without secure accommodation, leaving a lasting impression on all involved.
As night fell, Scouts took part in a supervised sleep out within the West Stand concourse, constructing makeshift shelters to better understand the harsh conditions experienced by those sleeping rough.
The group were rewarded with a well-earned breakfast the following morning before departing, having not only raised vital funds but also deepened their understanding of an important social issue.
