We travel to Southampton in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday (8pm GMT kick-off)
Leicester City have won their last two league matches against Norwich City and Stoke City
Stephy Mavididi, who scored against the Potters, was delighted to find the net
He’s eager to capitalise on the momentum and extend the winning run
A pair of 2-1 victories over Norwich City and Stoke City came either side of the international break and have helped to repair what was a damaging run of form. Now just a point outside the play-off positions and with two games in four days on the horizon, as Sheffield United also visit Leicester this weekend, it’s an opportunity to carry on that momentum and climb the table even further at the end of November.
Mavididi, who scored a stunner in Saturday’s Stoke success, said afterwards: “We’re delighted with the three points and the performance. We’ve just got to build on it. “It’s massive. It’s what we’ve been working towards, so obviously we’re happy we got the three points. But we’ve got another two games this week so we’ve got to get back to the training ground, work hard, and try and carry this on throughout the week.
“In the previous games, after the games especially, we’ve been hurt. We didn’t want that feeling again. We stuck together, dug in, and got the three points.”
Mavididi admitted that he felt like he ‘owed’ the Blue Army a goal on Saturday and he’s eager for more, as City look to extend their winning run on the south coast.
“It’s been a long time coming,” our No.10 added. “I can only thank God that it’s arrived. I’m really delighted and happy.
“Winksy (Harry Winks) played me the ball and I’m pretty sure I saw some runners behind me but then, for a split second, I didn’t see them anymore, so I thought: ‘You know what, let me just take this on my own’. Like I say, I thank God that it went in.
“I felt like I owed it to the fans. We’re just delighted we could give them the three points so we’ve just got to carry that on.
“That’s two wins on the bounce, so we’ve got to stay humble, keep working hard, and carry on this momentum. It’s a massive week. We’re fully prepared for it.
“We know what to expect. We’ve just got to attack the week like the last two games and hopefully we’ll get a result.”
