Jannik Vestergaard helps Denmark beat Northern Ireland in Copenhagen
The Leicester City centre-back came off the bench in the second half
He now has 54 caps for his country
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s own goal had Northern Ireland in front, but Gustav Isaksen responded with a leveller and then turned provider to set up Christian Eriksen for the winner.
Vestergaard was introduced into the action in Copenhagen two minutes prior to Eriksen’s goal, replacing Fulham centre-back Joachim Andersen.
Mika Biereth was denied Denmark’s third after having a strike ruled out by VAR for offside, but Isaksen’s goal and assist was enough to win it for the hosts at the Parken Stadium.
The Danes next face Lithuania, this time in Odense, in three days’ time, in another international friendly.
