The Irish defender, recruited from Scottish Premiership outfit Hibernian on a three-year contract this week, is well known to Manager Russell Martin having worked together during their time at MK Dons.
Grateful for the effect he’s had on his career up to this point, Dublin-born O’Hora is now looking to kick on in a new environment.
“To be here now, it’s something that I wanted,” our new recruit told us, speaking from LCFC Training Ground upon his arrival. “I’m absolutely delighted. I was very keen to get it done when I heard of the interest from such a massive club like Leicester.
“I’m really looking forward to everything. I’ve worked with the Manager previously. I know exactly what he wants and this is definitely a place where I think I can kick on.
“I really enjoyed my time previously, although it was a long time ago now. The type of Manager he is, the style of play fits right in with me and he also gave me a chance when I was a young lad coming through from Brighton to get some experience in the first team.
“There’s also something there. He’s obviously trusted me when I was young. I’m here now and he’s had a big part to play in it. He thinks I can come in here and help the team get what they want. I think I can help hit those targets that we’re going to set.”
Discussing what the Blue Army can expect from our new centre-back, he is ready to give his all to assist with the Club’s aims and ambitions.
“Leader comes to my head first, hence why I want to play a certain style,” the 27-year-old continued. “I'm quite loud on the pitch, I like to be on the ball a lot. But ultimately, I despise losing games and conceding goals.
“Winning is absolutely everything to me. It’s the whole reason why I want to be in this game. I want to compete and I want to get to the highest level I possibly can.
“I never give up, I’m a bit of a warrior, I’ll always be trying to give my best for the team, at whatever cost that may be for myself. I’ll make myself available as much as I can and I wear my heart of my sleeve.
“To think there’s a game on Saturday in front of everyone at King Power Stadium, it’s something I’m looking forward to and I can’t wait to put the jersey and my boots on and walk out there and fight for three points.”
With a first victory of the season under our belt in midweek, defeating Plymouth Argyle, O’Hora is coming into a group growing in confidence, with another home fixture to come at Saturday against Oxford United.
He added: “I’ve met a few of the boys who have come in and the staff have been nothing but welcoming to me and that’s a big part for me. It’s an unbelievable group of lads and the result (on Tuesday) was perfect for me to come into a happy place.
“The performances have obviously been there and it’s just about me adding to that now and seeing what part I can play in it to help push to get those results week in, week out.
“Everybody who is associated with the Club knows that we want to be promoted and rightly so. I think that’s the whole reason I want to come to this Club as well. That type of pressure and expectation is a privilege and something I want to take onboard. I had it previously in my last club at Hibernian, with the demands of playing in Europe.
“To play for such a big club like Leicester, there has got to be expectations. That helps me perform and push to do the right things that will help the team. This season the pressure is on and rightly so.”
