LCFC Women beat Aston Villa 3-0 on Sunday afternoon
Janice Cayman scored twice in the fixture at King Power Stadium
Amandine Miquel reflected on her third WSL win as City Manager
The first 20 minutes of the Barclays Women’s Super League fixture saw chances go astray for both sides, but Janice Cayman’s first of the afternoon settled some nerves at the break. A quick-fire double from herself and Julie Thibaud straight after the restart brought an ease to Leicester’s style of play, seeing out their third league win of the season, extending the gap above Crystal Palace to six points. Janice Cayman scored twice in the meeting with the Villans.
“It’s always important for us to do our best in every game, but today the opponent, and timing, worked well for us,” Miquel stated in her post-match interview. “We’ve got eight games left and we know it’ll be a fight until the end so we need to perform to get as many points as we can.
“It’s always nice to pick up points in big games, but like you saw against Chelsea, we don’t stop ourselves from getting points against anyone. If it’s one or three [points], we need to play the game.
“Whether it’s against Man City or Chelsea, we must show our full potential and see what happens.”

The former Stade de Reims Manager was pleased to see the Foxes capitalise on their chances in the second period, to take a little of the strain off their flow, and hopes this result is a statement for games to come.
Miquel added: “We knew that if we didn’t score a second goal that we would have been under pressure for the rest of the game, and that’s what we told them at half-time because we knew we had the occasions to score.
“We need to take our chances to be able to play with less stress, which we did today.”
