  • It’s Burton Albion up next in Sky Bet League One for the Foxes
  • Tickets are available for Saturday’s 3pm kick-off at King Power Stadium
  • Wes Burns has been speaking to CITY Matchday Magazine in the build-up
  • Hard work will be a requirement of our third tier season, he says
Welcoming Burton Albion to King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off), it’s a fixture which presents us with an opportunity to put three points on board for the first time this term, following on from last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Notts County.
Reflecting on matters at Meadow Lane, which saw a Jayden Joseph opener cancelled out late on, Burns believes progress will be made from that opening day result.
“We’ve obviously gone back through it and looked as it as a team,” the 31-year-old said, in conversation with CITY Matchday Magazine this week. “We’ve identified places where we could have done better and things we need to work on in terms of when teams go man-to-man.

“On the whole, I think the first few games of any season are always chaos and everyone is bang up for it. We discussed that in the team meeting and we just need to be prepared for that. All in all, a point to start the season is not a bad one away from home.”
Heading into our first home match of the league campaign, which sees us come up against a team we faced in pre-season, Burns is well versed in the rigours of the third tier, having previously played in the division, and will not be underestimating the Brewers by any stretch.
“There are no easy games having been in it a few years before and then [during] my time at Ipswich,” he proclaimed.
“We must do everything we can to make the game as easy as possible by moving the ball and playing to the highest level we can – that, on most occasions, should take care of the result.
“Teams always come to disrupt so we need to approach every game properly and not take anything for granted. Obviously we’re looking to go into the game and take all three points off Burton.”

Making his first start for the Club last time out, having debuted in the Carabao Cup a week earlier, it’s a milestone that the winger is aiming to continue by earning a full home debut on Filbert Way.
The former Ipswich Town wide man added: “It’s obviously nice to get the minutes in the legs early doors, especially when you come to a new club. It’s good to get that first one under your belt.
“I got my first minutes in the Carabao Cup game the week before but to get that first start is a nice one to tick off. Hopefully I can build on that now. I’ve played at King Power Stadium before but obviously on the opposite side.
“I know what it’s like from first-hand experience when the fans get right behind the team. It can be quite a daunting place to come and really tough for opposing teams. To be on the other side of that now from a Leicester point of view should be an exciting occasion.”
