Wes Burns signs three-year deal with Leicester City
The 31-year-old joins for an undisclosed fee from Ipswich Town

The 31-year-old signs a three-year contract with the Football Club having spent the last five years at Ipswich Town.

He made 164 appearances for the Tractor Boys in all competitions, scoring 30 goals, and helped them to back-to-back promotions from Sky Bet League One to the Premier League.

Speaking to LCFC.com, he said: “I’m delighted to be here and get it all sorted. Having spoken to the manager and various people I know here, there’s a massive ambition to get the Club back to where it once was, so I’m excited about the project.

“I want to bring a lot of excitement for the fans, along with plenty of goals and assists. I’m direct and an old school type winger who likes to take on his defenders and put crosses into the box.”

Born in Cardiff, Burns started his career at Bristol City, progressing through the club’s academy, before going on to make his senior debut in January 2013.

During his time with the Robins, he enjoyed loan spells at Forest Green Rovers, Oxford United, Cheltenham Town, Fleetwood Town and Aberdeen, before joining Fleetwood on a permanent deal in January 2017.

The Wales international, who has 10 senior caps to his name, featured for The Cod Army on 164 occasions, scoring 23 goals, and helped them reach the Sky Bet League One Play-Offs twice.

He made the switch to Ipswich Town in June 2021 and quickly established himself as a key member of the team, finishing as the club’s top goalscorer during his first season which also saw him named in the 2021/22 EFL League One Team of the Season.

Burns will now link up with his Leicester City team-mates as they prepare for their first round Carabao Cup tie against Northampton Town at King Power Stadium on Saturday 8 August (3pm kick-off).
