The PL2 campaign resumed in Seagrave with the visit of the Black Cats and there were two changes to our XI following last weekend's draw with Brighton & Hove Albion, including Mirsad Ali coming in for Tom Wilson-Brown and Logan Briggs replacing Olabade Aluko.
It was the visitors who seized the initiative in the first half when Jayden Jones converted a chance in the 27th minute. Within two minutes, it was two as namesake Jenson Jones was set up by Jack Whittaker to double the advantage and put the North East outfit in a commanding position.
We did pull a goal back with eight minutes left on the clock courtesy of Jake Evans' second in as many games, assisted by Louis Page, setting up a grandstand finish, but there was to be no late equaliser on this occasion.
Jake Evans was the man to find the net again.

The side coached by Leon McSweeney ended the game with 10 men following Harvey Godsmark-Ford's 87th-minute red card and were soon consigned to a sixth defeat of the campaign, despite dominating in terms of possession and chances created.
Sitting 15th in the PL2 table, on 15 points, it's Norwich City up next at Avant Training Centre on Friday 7 February, but before then, we turn attention to the Premier League Cup next Friday and a meeting with Coventry City at LCFC Training Ground (both 7pm kick-offs).
The details:
City: French; Joseph, Godsmark-Ford, Wormleighton, Ali (Amartey 86'); Braybrooke (Fisken 75'), Cartwright; Monga, Alves (Page 75'), Briggs (King 62'); Evans.
Sub not used: Bausor.
Goal: Evans 82'.
