Recent encounters with the Red Devils on Filbert Way include a stunning 5-3 triumph in 2014, Jamie Vardy’s record-breaking strike in 2015 and last season’s dramatic 2-2 draw.

As a result, Maddison, who made his Premier League debut in a 2-1 defeat on the opening day of the current campaign, is excited to tackle Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s men on Sunday afternoon.

On Friday, he said: “Of course, United at home is always a great fixture for everyone, it has produced some classics over the years before I was at Leicester and they are on fire as well.

Memorable Goals Against Manchester United

Leicester City host Manchester United on Sunday, so let's enjoy five memorable strikes against the Red Devils.

“They are the team of the moment, [with] so many great attacking players on show and obviously the new manager coming in, he has done a fantastic job so far.

“We will have our hands full, but hopefully it is a challenge we can rise to.”

Before Wednesday’s impressive 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield, City had endured a frustrating run of form but Maddison was keen to point out their form against the big-six.

“We beat the champions at home not so long ago, so I don’t think it is too bad,” he added.

“It is nothing to dwell on. We have had a couple of results where maybe we haven’t had the rub of the green.

“The Cardiff game, if I scored the penalty, we probably win the game and nobody speaks about it again, so it is fine margins.

“In the Premier League every game is tight and sometimes you get the rub of the green, sometimes you don’t. It’s been like that lately.

“It’s been a bit up and down but hopefully we can come away with a positive result against United.”
