Award Pride For Academy Stars Dewsbury-Hall & Bosworth
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Oliver Bosworth were the winners of two youth awards at the Club's End of Season Dinner
- Combative midfielder Dewsbury-Hall received the Development Player of the Season prize
- Shot-stopper Bosworth, meanwhile, won Academy Player of the Season
- Both youngsters explained their determination to build on their personal successes
Midfielder Dewsbury-Hall was the recipient of Leicester City’s Development Squad Player of the Season prize, while goalkeeper Bosworth collected the Academy’s yearly award.
Following a successful breakthrough season for both Foxes youngsters, Dewsbury-Hall and Bosworth outlined an ambition to build on their success and enjoy positive 2019/20 campaigns.
“I’m really proud to get this award, I’ve worked hard,” Dewsbury-Hall told LCFC TV. “It’s been a good season personally, I’m really happy with how I’ve played so this tops it off really.
There's A Clear Pathway Here, Says Bosworth
Academy Player of the Season, Under-18s goalkeeper Oliver Bosworth, speaks to LCFC TV after winning the award at the Club's End of Season Dinner on Tuesday.
“It’s a great feeling. You know if you’re playing well personally but to get recognition from other people is really nice so this is a great feeling and hopefully the first of many.
“It’s a massive inspiration obviously, this is what we work for as a kid.
“You try and be the best you can be and getting this shows what you’re doing is right so it spurs you on to get onto bigger and better things.”
After watching the likes of Ben Chilwell, Hamza Choudhury and Harvey Barnes progress through the Academy ranks and into the first team, Dewsbury-Hall hopes to be next.
“They are a massive inspiration,” he continued. “Obviously, we’ve got a very youthful team and a manager that has come in and is willing to play youth.
“If you’re good enough, you’re old enough so it gives me massive motivation to know if I keep doing well and keep grinding I’ll get my opportunity.”
That’s a sentiment which is echoed by Bosworth, whose excellent performances for the Under-18s helped the young Foxes seal a seventh-place finish in the U18 Premier League.
“It’s everything to me,” he said. “Coming in for my first year and winning this award doesn’t happen often, so I’m just very grateful to everyone.
Dewsbury-Hall: The First Of Many
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall spoke with LCFC TV after winning the Development Squad Player of the Season at Leicester City's End of Season Dinner Awards.
“I’ve been here since I was seven. To see the players that have won it before and to follow in their footsteps makes me so proud.
“To see the likes of Ben and Hamza, it gives you confidence. The trust that the gaffer puts in them now, you can see there is a clear pathway there and hopefully one day it’ll be me.”
The close-knit environment at Belvoir Drive, meanwhile, means aspiring goalkeepers such as Bosworth have the opportunity to train with City and Denmark No.1, Kasper Schmeichel.
Also training alongside experienced duo Danny Ward and Eldin Jakupović, Bosworth says it is a rare privilege to learn from the senior shot-stoppers on a daily basis.
“I’m in with the boys most days, and to learn from Kasper, Danny and Eldin every day is something I have to be grateful for,” he explained.
“Not many people get that opportunity. For them to help me along is just brilliant.”
