- Kelechi Iheanacho scored a brace for the Foxes in South Yorkshire
- Davies says everyone remains in with a chance of earning a place in the first choice XI

With Brendan Rodgers taking a team to Stoke City, who were defeated 2-1 at bet365 Stadium, Davies and Kolo Touré headed to South Yorkshire with a separate squad.

Nigeria striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored the goals for City as they remained unbeaten in pre-season ahead of their final friendly against Atalanta on Friday (7:30pm BST kick-off).

Reflecting on the action at New York Stadium, Davies was pleased with the application of the whole squad and their dedication to the backroom team's new ideas this summer.

"In the first half, you saw some football which was first-class," he told LCFC TV. "The ball was moving quickly, it was impossible for the opposition to stop us at that point.

Performance Levels Key for Davies

Foxes Assisitant Manager Chris Davies talks to LCFC TV after City's 2-2 draw with Rotherham United at New York Stadium...

"We don’t want a slow possession game which is predictable, we want one that’s fast and dynamic and very difficult to defend against and we had that.

"So that’s definitely improving and that will only come, it was a fantastic pitch today and a little bit of damp on the pitch helped as well.

"That will come as the weeks go by but I think we’re seeing now a lot of that speed of play that the manager wants and, as I say, we showed it as well so that’s excellent."

Davies also took the opportunity to underline the importance of players performing in pre-season as Rodgers and his team begin to formulate their starting XI.

"It’s about performing, giving yourself a chance," he continued. "Fitness is still coming for a few players.

"They’re trying to give themselves an opportunity to get into the first team and I think to a man every single one of them today performed.

"I was extremely happy with the experienced players, the likes of Wes [Morgan] and Fuchsy [Christian Fuchs] and Kingy [Andy King].

"These guys really showed their experience today but the other, younger players also performed really well.

"So, they’ve all taken credit from the game and can look forward to a couple of weeks now before the season starts."
