We’ll Learn From This Defeat, Says Rodgers

Sadio Mané’s effort just before the break handed the hosts a 1-0 advantage before James Maddison equalised with 10 minutes to play.

While City looked set to secure a valuable away point, James Milner’s 95th-minute penalty handed Liverpool a victory on Merseyside.

“We’re obviously frustrated,” Rodgers told LCFC TV. “We’ve come to compete against a top-class team who are the European champions and you can see why, but I was very proud of the team today, we played with real personality in the game.

Ricardo: The Details Make The Difference

Leicester City defender Ricardo Pereira spoke after the Foxes' late defeat against Liverpool at Anfield.

“In the moments we had to defend we coped with that pressure well and then when we could play we broke through their pressure and looked a real threat.

“We showed our great mentality to come back into the game in the second half, get the equalising goal and it looked like we could be the team that could go on and win, so to concede in the 95th minute is obviously disappointing.

“But there are a lot of positives to take and, like I said, we’ll learn from it.”

I thought that there are areas we need to be better in. I think that at times in the second half we gave the ball away more than we would like not under great pressure.

While pleased with the character his side show at Anfield, Rodgers says the Foxes needed to be better while in possession of the ball during the second period.

He added: “I thought that there are areas we need to be better in. I think that at times in the second half we gave the ball away more than we would like not under great pressure.

“It’s something that this team will improve on, it’s finding the personality to play against these teams in their own stadiums and the players showed that in real abundance today.”
