Ghezzal Makes Full Fiorentina Debut In Parma Draw

Leicester City winger Rachid Ghezzal made his full debut for Fiorentina in the Italian club's 1-1 draw with Parma in Serie A on Sunday.

Following three earlier substitute appearances for La Viola, the Algeria international was named in Vincenzo Montella's starting XI for the clash with Parma at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Former Arsenal man Gervinho put the visitors ahead in the first half, before Ghezzal and his team-mates rescues a point through Gaetano Castrovilli, leaving them eighth in Italy's top tier. 

The Florence-based club next travel to Sardegna Arena on Sunday to tackle sixth-place Cagliari in Serie A with the chance to climb one place in the standings should they collect three points.

Back in England, meanwhile, Ryan Loft scored his fourth goal in all competitions for Carlisle United in their vital 2-1 win over Macclesfield Town in Sky Bet League 2 on Saturday afternoon.

Following Theo Archibald's opener for Macclesfield, Harry McKirdy hit back for the Cumbrians, before, with eight minutes to play, substitute Loft pounced at Brunton Park for the home side.

As a result, Carlisle jump up the League 1 table to 19th, three points clear of the relegation zone, ahead of an Emirates FA Cup First Round tie at Dulwich Hamlet on Friday (7:55pm kick-off).

One tier higher, on the other hand, goalkeeper Daniel Iversen kept a clean sheet for Rotherham United, who ran out as 3-0 victors over Gillingham at Priestfield in League 1 on Saturday. 

Michael Smith's opener was added to by a brace from Matt Crooks to help the Millers reach 10th in the league ahead of an FA Cup tie at Maidenhead United on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Elsewhere, midfielder Adrien Silva played the full 90 minutes in a slender defeat for AS Monaco by Claude Puel's AS Saint-Étienne in French Ligue 1, courtesy of Denis Bouanga's solitary strike.

Islam Slimani did not feature for Leonardo Jardim's men, who host Dijon FCO at Stade Louis II on Saturday (7pm kick-off), after scoring five goals and registering six assists in eight matches.

Academy graduate Josh Knight, meanwhile, made his 17th outing for Peterborough United in a disappointing 4-3 loss to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road, keeping them third in League 1.

At Rodney Parade, defender Sam Hughes was a second-half substitute for Salford City as Graham Alexander's side defeated Newport County 2-1, a result which takes them up to 11th in the fourth tier.

Finally, midfielder Kamal Sowah initially started for Oud-Heverlee Leuven in a Proximus League encounter with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, which was eventually abandoned.

Andy King (Rangers), Fousseni Diabaté (Amiens) and Layton Ndukwu (Southend United) did not feature for their adopted clubs over the most recent weekend of action.
