City’s eighth-straight Premier League win came courtesy of a 4-1 success against Aston Villa, and with Norwich City up next on Saturday, they could equal an all-time Club record sequence of winning 10 successive games in all competitions.

Aside from Leicester’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur back in September, it is the first time Rodgers has utilised that particular stratagem in a competitive game this term.

Ahead of Saturday’s fixture on Filbert Way, Rodgers took the time to explain why he was pleased with his outfit’s adaptability.

“It shows you the football intelligence that’s in the squad,” said Rodgers. “We used a different system last week.

Rodgers: We Want To Continue To Improve

Brendan Rodgers spoke positively in Thursday's press conference ahead of Leicester City's home game against Norwich on Saturday.

“We used it in pre-season and had a look at some of the principles within it. We used it partway through the game against Tottenham.

“Other than that, we’ve not had to use it, but the players were fantastic in terms of defensively and how they were able to organise the game.

“Then, with the ball, we were very creative, bright and full of energy, so yes, it’s something that I said when I came in. That flexibility is important.

“How we play and the style will remain the same, but systems can change, and it worked well for us.”

We have to prepare for them and a tough game. It’s just focusing on the next game, it’s always the key. When you do that, you never get too carried away.

Norwich City currently sit 19th in the division but have enjoyed impressive wins against champions Manchester City and Everton this term, and Rodgers knows they will seek to claim all three points against the flying Foxes.

Rodgers added: “They’ve had some very good results against Manchester City and Everton this season, so they’ve shown that they can win.

“We have to prepare for them and a tough game. It’s just focusing on the next game, it’s always the key. When you do that, you never get too carried away.”
