Praet: We Had Chances To Score

Dennis Praet says Leicester City’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City was particularly difficult to take given the goalscoring opportunities they created at King Power Stadium.

After just eight minutes, Jamie Vardy struck the post while one-on-one with Man City stopper Ederson, and James Maddison forced the Brazilian into an excellent save as the first period came to a close.

During the opening 45 minutes, City had two penalty shouts turned down, and despite a positive showing against Pep Guardiola’s men, they were beaten by Gabriel Jesus’ 80th-minute strike.

Praet told LCFC TV: “I thought we played a good game. We had very good organisation against that team, and if you concede a goal at the end of the game it’s hard to take because I think we also had some very good chances to score so yes, it’s tough to take.

Praet: It's Tough To Take

Dennis Praet talks to LCFC TV after his sides narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at King Power Stadium...

“I think we did well, we planned it really well. The organisation was really good. We didn’t concede too many chances I think, so it all worked out well, but of course at the end we get this goal against us and it was a pity.

“We had our chances to score one or more goals. Maybe sometimes maybe our last pass was not quite what it needed to be, but even with that we had good chances to score.”

It was the first time I’ve played as a no.6, but I think I did my defensive work and I was happy to get the minutes.

Since joining from Serie A outfit Sampdoria in the summer, Belgium international Praet has made 26 appearances for the Foxes in all competitions, and played a defensive midfield role against Man City on Saturday.

“It was okay,” said Praet of his performance. “Of course, it was a lot of defensive work. It was the first time I’ve played as a no.6, but I think I did my defensive work and I was happy to get the minutes.

“We want to keep our position that we are at now and starting from next week we are going to get the points again.”
