Rodgers: We'll Have The Same Squad For Spurs

Brendan Rodgers expects to have the same matchday squad which defeated Sheffield United when Leicester City travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (4pm kick-off).
More on this story...

- Leicester City face Tottenham Hotspur in north London on Sunday (4pm kick-off)
- The Foxes will be without James Maddison, Ben Chilwell, Christian Fuchs and Marc Albrighton
- Brendan Rodgers is hopeful Albrighton could be available to face Manchester United next weekend
- The Northern Irishman was also thrilled with how his side performed in Thursday's 2-0 win over Sheffield United

Goals from Ayoze Pérez and Demarai Gray sealed an 18th victory of the top flight season for the Foxes - enough to confirm European football in 2020/21 for Rodgers' men.

Having secured the Club's second-highest Premier League finish, the Northern Irishman and his squad are now looking to achieve even more over the remaining two matches.

On Thursday, City were without James Maddison (hip), Ben Chilwell (thigh) and Christian Fuchs (groin), among others, and Rodgers has confirmed they will be unavailable for Sunday

"We’ll have the same squad as last night," the 47-year-old revealed on Friday. "I think I said after the game, James and Ben will miss the last couple of games, as will Christian.

We’re missing some outstanding talents, including Ricardo but it’s always an opportunity. We all know how we play. It’s very systematic in how we work.

"Marc [Albrighton] will hopefully be available for Manchester United (after being substituted at AFC Bournemouth last weekend), otherwise we’re the same."

Despite also being without Ricardo Pereira (ACL) and Çağlar Söyüncü (suspension), Rodgers was thrilled with the nature of Leicester's performance against the Blades.

The Foxes manager made four changes, with Club captain Wes Morgan and debutant Luke Thomas among those coming in, and the hosts dominated throughout.

"We’re missing some outstanding talents, including Ricardo, but it’s always an opportunity," he explained. "We all know how we play. It’s very systematic in how we work.

Rodgers congratulates Thomas on a fine senior debut for the Football Club.

"The guys understand our style of football. To see Luke come in and play with that composure, it’s an example of that opportunity. I was delighted with how the players came in."

Rodgers is confident that, although Maddison will miss City's last two games of the season, the England international will be ready for the start of 2020/21.

"James will miss out this season and then, through the off season, he’ll do his work and hopefully he’ll be ready for next season," he continued.

"Ben might be a little bit longer, as will Christian. That’s something for us to look at over the next few months, but we’ll see how they go over the next five weeks or so."
