Vardy In Contention For Arsenal Test, Says Rodgers

- Jamie Vardy could feature in some capacity in Sunday's clash at Arsenal, says manager Brendan Rodgers

- Rodgers confirms Islam Slimani and Demarai Gray are also in contention to appear

Following Thursday's 3-0 success over Zorya Luhansk in the UEFA Europa League, a trip to Emirates Stadium to face Mikel Arteta's Gunners awaits just three days later.

Vardy missed that European clash with Zorya, as well as last weekend's Premier League fixture against Aston Villa, but could play a role in the capital on Sunday, Rodgers confirmed.

"Slim (Islam Slimani) will come back into the squad," he told the media. "Demarai [Gray] will be back and then we’ll see where Jamie's at. He’ll train with the squad on Friday.

"We felt he would miss two games, so he’s worked well with the medical team over the course of the week. Hopefully, he comes through that over the next 48 hours and is available for the squad."

City's hectic schedule really kicked in over the past week with fixtures against Villa, Zorya and now Arsenal all within a seven-day period, but Rodgers says it is a challenge Leicester can rise to.

Playing in European football is a test they want to embrace, the 47-year-old added, and he believes it will aid the development of his younger players in the long term.

"It’s what we want," he explained. "These types of games and the consecutive games, that’s what builds your robustness and your mentality. Obviously, for young players, that’s what we want.

"You come in, you play well, you get a good result, but that’s quickly forgotten, you get onto your next game.

"We’ll look to design a plan over these next number of days in order to go into the game against Arsenal and look to get a victory."

Elsewhere, Ricardo Pereira (ACL), Wilfred Ndidi (adductor), Daniel Amartey (hamstring) and Çağlar Söyüncü (adductor) continue their recoveries.
