- Kasper Schmeichel named as Danish Footballer of the Year for the third time in 2020
- The Leicester City goalkeeper received the prize, from the Danish Spillerforeningen, in 2016 and 2019
- Schmeichel has also scooped the Danish Football Association's separate annual prize four times
- The 34-year-old lifted the Championship and Premier League titles at the Club in 2014 and 2016

Schmeichel, who has made 398 appearances for the Foxes and another 60 for Denmark, has been ever-present during the Club's excellent 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Winner of the national prize, awarded by the Danish Spillerforeningen, or PFA, on two previous occasions in 2016 and 2019, the 34-year-old kept 14 clean sheets for City in the calendar year of 2020.

His impressive displays in Leicester's colours enabled City to secure their second best-ever Premier League finish in 2019/20, fifth place, while they currently sit third in the standings this term.

It means a lot that it is one's colleagues who have voted for me. With the players I was up against - they have both performed exceptionally well this year. That makes it really special.

Elsewhere, Schmeichel also registered shut-outs for Kasper Hjulmand's De rød-hvide in notable UEFA Nations League away victories over Iceland and England in October.

Also a four-time winner of the Danish Football Association's separate annual prize, he beat Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Simon Kjær to the 2020 Spillerforeningen award, voted for by his peers.

"It means a lot that it is one's colleagues who have voted for me," Schmeichel told spillerforeningen.dk. "With the players I was up against - they have both performed exceptionally well this year. That makes it really special."

Throughout his 10 years as a Fox, the former Manchester City and Leeds United 'keeper has lifted Premier League and Championship titles, as well as representing the Club in two European campaigns.
