Leicester City Football Club Statement

Statement issued following the publication of the Independent Review into Child Sexual Abuse in Football 1970-2005 by Clive Sheldon QC.

Leicester City Football Club welcomes the recommendations of the Independent Review and shares the resolve of its colleagues throughout the game to ensure that football continues to develop an environment that is, above all, safe for everyone.

The Club expresses its deepest sympathies with all survivors of abuse and its admiration for those who have come forward. In doing so they will help to reinforce the game’s modern safeguarding standards. These standards are the Club’s highest priority, around which we offer no compromise.

All reports of abuse made to the Club, non-recent or otherwise, are treated seriously, investigated thoroughly and pursued to an appropriate conclusion that is satisfactory to all associated parties. The Club strives for the highest standards and takes all reasonable steps to safeguard the vulnerable groups with which it engages.

The Club’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedures can be downloaded via lcfc.com/club/safeguarding. For further information and support, our Safeguarding team can be reached by email at safeguarding@lcfc.co.uk.

Survivors can also seek support and advice from The NSPCC. Call on 0808 800 5000 or email help@nspcc.org.uk. Further information on non-recent abuse is available via:

Concerns about child welfare or behaviour towards a child in football can also be reported with The FA by emailing safeguarding@thefa.com.
