Christian Fuchs Bids Farewell After Six Unforgettable Years

Leicester City legend Christian Fuchs will leave the Football Club at the end of the 2020/21 season, after a hugely successful six years that has seen him lift the Premier League and FA Cup.

- Christian Fuchs to leave Leicester City at the end of the season
- The 35-year-old played a key role in the 2015/16 Premier League title win
- He’s made 152 appearances for City in all competitions
- The Premier League and FA Cup winner arrived on a free transfer in 2015

The 35-year-old left-back has been a significant figure for the Foxes since his arrival in the summer of 2015 on a free transfer after a spell with Schalke and has gone on to feature for City 152 times in all competitions, scoring three goals.

Fuchs has firmly established himself as a fan favourite among Leicester City supporters for his performances on the pitch and for his willingness to engage off it, which mean he will remain a much-loved member of the Leicester City family long after his playing days are over.

The former Austria captain’s role as part of Leicester City’s defence as part of the 2015/16 Premier League winning season will forever be remembered by Foxes fans, as will his famous ‘no-look pass’ to set up Jamie Vardy’s record-breaking goal against Manchester United in that same season.

Fuchs made 32 appearances in the Premier League during that historic title-winning campaign and went on to play a key role in their subsequent UEFA Champions League run in 2016/17.

The Foxes made it to the quarter-finals of the competition, narrowly missing out to Atletico Madrid after losing 2-1 on aggregate, with Fuchs featuring in all but one of City’s UEFA Champions League fixtures that campaign.

His first Premier League goal for the Foxes came in a 3-1 win against Crystal Palace at King Power Stadium in October 2016, and although lively going forwards, it was his solid defensive displays that really stood out.

Fuchs has put in consistently strong and reliable performances when called upon in recent campaigns and has also played a vital role in the development of younger players in the squad.

Furthermore, the Austrian has earned a place in the hearts of City fans all over the world through his willingness to engage with them off the pitch and appetite for taking part in the Club’s many community initiatives during his time as a Fox.

Fittingly, his time at Leicester City ends with even more silverware as the Foxes lifted the FA Cup earlier this month – a wonderful way to celebrate the contribution of one of Leicester City’s best-ever signings.

Christian has been a vital part of Leicester City’s success over these past six years. He leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the Football Club in his future career and the knowledge that he will be forever welcome at King Power Stadium.
