Leicester City goalkeepers Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward came head-to-head in the UEFA European Championships Round of 16 on Saturday, with the former’s Denmark side emerging as winners in Amsterdam.

- Danny Ward and Kasper Schmeichel play from start to finish in Denmark’s 4-0 win over Wales
- Schmeichel’s side will go on to face either Netherlands or Czech Republic in the quarter-finals
- It proved to be Schmeichel’s first clean sheet of the tournament

City’s international contingent at this summer’s tournament reduced by one as Ward was unable to prevent Schmeichel’s Danes from advancing to the quarter-finals of the tournament after a commanding 4-0 success at the Amsterdam ArenA.

A brace of strikes from Kasper Dolberg, plus late goals from Joakim Mæhle and Martin Braithwaite, set up a last-eight tie with either Netherlands or Czech Republic, who face each other on Sunday evening.

It proved to be Schmeichel’s first clean sheet of the tournament, while Denmark became the first team to score four or more goals in consecutive matches in European Championships history.

After both Ward and Schmeichel played 90 minutes in the Dutch capital, Youri Tielemans and Dennis Praet could both be in action on Sunday night, when their Belgium side face Portugal in Seville.

Roberto Martínez's men won all three of their fixtures in Group B, beating Russia, Finland and Denmark to finish top of their pool.
