Seven Foxes In International Action On Friday

Luke Thomas featured and Ademola Lookman made his debut for Nigeria, one of seven Leicester City players to represent their countries in Friday's international matches.

Daniel Amartey and Kelechi Iheanacho played the full 90 minutes for Ghana and Nigeria respectively in the the 0-0 first leg of the World Cup CAF Qualification Play-Off in Kumasi, Ghana.

In a game of few chances, the Super Eagles thought they had won a penalty late in the game, only for VAR to overturn the initial decision. On-loan Foxes winger Lookman came on in the 74th minute of the match, his first appearance for the country.

In Cairo, there was a replay of the recent AFCON final with Papy Mendy lining up for continental champions Senegal in the first leg of their play-off with Egypt. However, it was the Pharaohs who will take a one-goal advantage into the upcoming second leg thanks to a 1-0 victory, an early own goal by Saliou Ciss separating the teams before the rematch in four days' time.

The second leg of both play-offs - with the winners earning a ticket to the World Cup in Qatar later this year - will take place on Tuesday evening.

Jonny Evans - who made his return to action with the Foxes in Sunday's Premier League win over Brentford - started for Northern Ireland as skipper and played 63 minutes of his country's 3-1 friendly win away in Luxembourg.

The City midfielder played from start to finish for Senegal against Egypt on Friday.

Josh Magennis gave his side an early lead, and while Marvin Santos equalised after the interval, goals from Steven Davis and Gavin Whyte settled the result for the away side.

At Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth, Thomas started and played the full match for England Under-21s in their 4-1 success in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier against Andorra.

Now sitting second in the group, three points behind the Czech Republic but with two games in hand, the Young Lions scored through Folarin Balogun, Jacob Ramsey, Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Gordon on the south coast, Albert Rosas responding for Andorra.

England Under-21s will travel to Albania for their next fixture on Tuesday evening.

Earlier in the day, Sammy Braybrooke appeared from the bench for England Under-18s, while defender Ben Nelson was an unused substitute, in their side's 3-2 win over Sweden Under-18s in a friendly played in Marbella.
