Justin Targets Another Old Trafford Win

As Leicester City prepare to face Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday, James Justin explains why another victory at Old Trafford would complement his side’s recent form.

Although Justin missed out through injury, he was thrilled to watch on as goals from fellow defenders Luke Thomas and Çağlar Söyüncü secured a first away win over the Red Devils since 1998 in May of last year.

The Foxes are looking for a repeat result having won six of their last nine matches across all formats, but Justin is aware of Manchester United’s ambitions and the quality they possess within their ranks.

He said: “It should be a really good game, with two good sides playing against each other. We know the qualities we’ve got, and the international players that they’ve got at such a high level. It’ll be a tough match, but hopefully we can go there and get a good result.

“I didn’t even know that stat (first win at Old Trafford since 1998), to be honest, but it’s obviously a good one to put in the past.

“The boys did a great job last year, I always remember Luke’s goal to kick things off, and hopefully we can do the same this year.”

The Foxes full-back, now into his third season at King Power Stadium, provided an insight into training during the international break at LCFC Training Ground, when many of the Club’s stars are away with their nations.

He said: “It’s still good, I feel like it gives the Under-23s a chance to come up and prove themselves, as well as the coaching staff to spend more time individually with people and just nail down a few things that we’ve been lacking. So, it’s been a good international break.”

This weekend’s encounter with Manchester United provides perspective for Justin, who in 2019 was plying his trade in League 1 with Luton Town. Now, he is preparing to face one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

We’ll look forward to it and relish the challenge that’s going to be the end of the season.

“When you look at it like that, I usually don’t think like that, I usually think: ‘What’s next?’, but when you take a step back and look at where I’ve come from and what I’ve had to do to get here, it’s been a long journey and hopefully I can keep on playing in these big games,” he continued.

“I want to knuckle down this season. We’ve got so many games left and hopefully I can play my part in as many as possible and just stay fit for the course of the season to help the team what they want to achieve.

“If we get through against PSV, I know it’ll be tough, we’ll have a huge amount of games to fit in in such a short space of time, but that’s why everyone needs to come together. We’ll look forward to it and relish the challenge that’s going to be the end of the season.”
