- Patson Daka scored his ninth international goal, but Zambia lost 3-1 away to Ivory Coast
- Luke Thomas unused for England Under-21s, who win 2-1 in the Czech Republic

The Foxes pair both started - Schmeichel playing the full game, while Vestergaard completed 60 minutes - at Stade de France in the countries' opening UEFA Nations League group fixture, and things seemed to be going the way of the hosts when Karim Benzema broke the deadlock just after half-time.

However, former Cardiff City striker Andreas Cornelius scored twice, the winner coming as late as the 88th minute, to confirm the eye-catching League A Group 1 win for the Danes.

In League A Group 4 of the Nations League, there was disappointment for Belgium, who lost 4-1 at home to the Netherlands. Timothy Castagne started and Youri Tielemans was an unused substitute in Brussels for the Red Devils.

The Dutch raced into a four-goal lead with all their strikes coming within a 25-minute period either side of the interval. First, Steven Bergwijn found the target before a Memphis Depay brace and Denzel Dumfries' strike took the game away from their neighbours.

Foxes full-back Castagne appeared to have registered for the Belgians, only to see his effort ruled out by VAR for offside, though Michy Batshuayi did score a consolation in added time.

There was a goal for a City player in Yamoussoukro, however, where Patson Daka scored for Zambia in their 3-1 away loss to Ivory Coast.

In 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification, it was goalless at the break before the Elephants put themselves in a strong position with goals from Serge Aurier, Christian Kouamé and Ibrahim Sangaré.

Daka found the target with his ninth international goal in added time, having scored 11 times in all competitions for Leicester City in 2021/22.

Earlier on Friday, Luke Thomas was an unused substitute for England Under-21s as they won 2-1 away to the Czech Republic. Emile Smith Rowe and Jacob Ramsey scored to put the Young Lions in a commanding position, before Daniel Fila pulled one back for the home side late on.

The result saw England move past their hosts to the top of their UEFA U21 European Championships qualifying group, with six wins and a draw claimed from their seven games in Group G and a place in next summer's finals the target.
