Evans, 34, is now fourth in his country's overall appearances charts, overtaking record goalscorer David Healy. After a 1-0 loss to Greece last week, the Foxes defender played a crucial role to help the Green & White Army to get off the mark in League C Group 2 of the UEFA Nations League.

Northern Ireland next head to Pristina City Stadium to face Kosovo on Thursday (7:45pm kick-off). Ian Baraclough's side are currently third in their pool, on one point, while Kosovo lead the way on three.

Centre-back Daniel Amartey, meanwhile, wore the captain's armband for Ghana as the Black Stars were held to a 1-1 away draw by the Central African Republic. Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus put the visitors ahead at Estádio 11 de Novembro, before Karl Namnganda's equaliser.

There was another outing for Thanawat Suengchitthawon in Thailand's Under-23s line-up on Sunday.

Ghana remain top of Group E as a result in 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifying on four points from two games, after defeating Madagascar 3-0 on Wednesday. Amartey and his team-mates are now due in Japan for the Kirin Cup, which begins against the hosts next Friday (10:55am kick-off).

Elsewhere, Development Squad midfielder Thanawat Suengchitthawon started as Thailand's Under-23s took their U23 Asian Cup Group C tally up to four points with a 3-0 success over Malaysia at Milliy Stadion. Suphanat Mueanta netted a brace as Channarong Promsrikaew struck once in Uzbekistan.

They lead Group C on goal difference, level on points with South Korea. Suengchitthawon, who helped his nation lift the AFF Suzuki Cup last winter, will be hoping to make his third consecutive start for the Under-23s in Wednesday's potential top-spot decider against South Korea (2pm kick-off).

Substitute Danny Ward toasts Wales' success with his team-mates at full-time in Cardiff.

Also on Sunday, goalkeeper Danny Ward was an unused substitute for Wales as Rob Page's men booked their spot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with a 1-0 victory over Ukraine in Cardiff. Andriy Yarmolenko's own goal was enough for the Dragons to reach the finals for the first time in 64 years.

They go into Group B along with England, Iran and the United States of America, with the tournament kicking off on Monday 21 November.

Monday promises more action for Foxes players, with Kasper Schmeichel and Jannik Vestergaard (Denmark) and Wesley Fofana (France Under-21s) in contention to appear. Make sure to check back to LCFC.com/internationals through the coming week for more updates from around the world.
