Kristiansen: A Game Of Two Halves

Victor Kristiansen says Leicester City paid the price for failing to replicate their first-half intensity in Sunday's 3-0 loss at Manchester United.
More on this story...

- Leicester City were beaten 3-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday
- Marcus Rashford scored twice and Jadon Sancho also netted for Erik ten Tag's men
- Full-back Victor Kristiansen believes City were punished for not capitalising on a strong first half

Marcus Rashford's brace and a later effort from Jadon Sancho settled the clash at Old Trafford, despite City being the dominant team in the first half. David de Gea also made two outstanding stops to deny Harvey Barnes and then Kelechi Iheanacho. It leaves Leicester 14th in the Premier League and ends a four-game unbeaten run.

"It was two parts, I think," new signing Kristiansen told LCFC TV. "In the first 45 minutes, we were quite good. We had some big chances, pushed them high and I thought that if we managed to score those chances, it would be a different game. They would start to be shaky in their build-up, and we will be able to push them even higher than we did.

"Obviously, they scored some goals and we got passive and stuff like that, so yes, it's disappointment. They punished our mistakes. We started to lose the structure and didn't do as we did in the first half. We started to lose the second balls as well. I think that's the main point.

Playing here today at Old Trafford Is obviously a big moment for me, coming from Copenhagen and only dreaming about this, and now I'm standing here.

"We were in a good spirit in the half-time, we were agreeing that if we just kept pushing, the chances will be coming along the way, but it was the first five or 10 minutes in the second half, we just gave them the game, and then we got passive."

The former FC Copenhagen full-back says it's important that City keep their heads held high - while also taking stock on his time in England so far.

Goals - City Beaten By Man Utd

Just the goals from Leicester City's 3-0 reverse to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

"We're coming from a good period, some good results, there's no need to be disappointed," he added. "Tomorrow the sun will go up again, and we will have a strong team coming to King Power Stadium next week. I'm just looking forward to that and I'm sure we will come back even stronger.

"It's been amazing. I think the team has performed well. I've been able to come into the team and bring my qualities and everybody has been good at involving me in the structure and the style of play.

"Playing here today at Old Trafford Is obviously a big moment for me, coming from Copenhagen and only dreaming about this, and now I'm standing here. I've played at Old Trafford and won against Tottenham."
