Pérez In Real Betis Thriller As Six Loan Foxes Feature

Ayoze Pérez started a thrilling 3-2 away victory for Real Betis in La Liga last Friday, one of six Leicester City loanees in action this weekend.

The Spanish side defeated Elche at The Estadio Martínez Valero thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Willian José, who replaced Pérez in the 85th-minute after the forward had won a second-half penalty.

The result keeps Betis fifth in the league table, on 40 points from 23 games, two points behind Atlético Madrid in fourth, prior to hosting Real Madrid in Sunday’s 8pm kick-off.

Preston North End visit Vicarage Road this Saturday (3pm kick-off) as Slaven Bilic’s side look to move back into the second tier play-offs positions. The Hertfordshire outfit currently sit eighth, four points outside the top six.

Elsewhere in the Sky Bet Championship, Marc Albrighton came on as a 50th-minute substitute during West Bromwich Albion’s 2-0 success over Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns last Saturday.

Daryl Dike’s double secured three points for Carlos Corberán’s men for the first time in four games, with West Brom travelling to meet Hull City on Friday night (8pm kick-off) sitting in 11th position, six points adrift of the play-offs.

George Hirst started as Ipswich Town defeated MK Dons 1-0 in Sky Bet League 1, playing for 72 minutes of the contest at Stadium MK. Sam Morsy’s 26th-minute goal separated the sides.

The Tractor Boys have strengthened their grip on a play-off place, sitting third prior to hosting Burton Albion at Portman Road on Saturday (3pm kick-off) and then Accrington Stanley on Tuesday (7:45pm kick-off).

Kasey McAteer has started back-to-back matches for AFC Wimbledon, 15th in the fourth tier, playing 77 minutes of a 2-1 defeat by Gillingham at Priestfield Stadium, prior to a 3-2 reverse at home to Stevenage, in which the youngster featured across the 90 minutes. Mansfield Town are up next for the Dons, with a 3pm kick-off coming up at Kingsmeadow on Saturday.

Also in the fourth tier, goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk was between the sticks for Hartlepool Town in a 3-3 draw with Walsall at Victoria Park. Two stoppage-time goals rescued a point for the north east outfit, who sit two points above the relegation zone.

The Pools travel to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off at Prenton Park, when the Polish shot-stopper, who kept a clean sheet on debut last month, will be hoping to make his seventh appearance for the club.
