It’s been four weeks since the Foxes were last in WSL action, but after slamming four goals past Liverpool at King Power Stadium, you’d think they hadn’t been away.

Plumptre was on the scoresheet as she netted her first Leicester goal of the season, and the defender tried to get a hold of her emotions in a post-match interview with LCFC TV.

“You can tell it's been a bit of a day because I've lost my voice,” the defender explained. “But we came in with a game plan, and we executed it so well from start to finish. I think we had a little of a dead period in the second half. But you can tell that we planned for the game really well, and we were excellent.

“They coaches were saying that we were doing well defensively, but ultimately, the rest of the team make it a lot easier for us when they are putting pressure on Liverpool a lot higher up the pitch.”

Plumptre Praises Foxes Fans

Ashleigh Plumptre commends the effort from her teammates following LCFC Women's 4-0 win over Liverpool at King Power Stadium.

Having made 71 appearances for Leicester (77 including pre-professionalism), it was the 24-year-old’s fourth goal for the Club, and the Nigeria centre-half was delighted to be able to record it on home soil with the Filbert Way faithful.

“I feel like it was about time because I've had so many chances!” Plumptre admitted. “The least I could do is put it in! My plan was not actually to receive it where I did, so it was even better that it just came to me and I had no choice but to put it in.

“Aileen [Whelan] always says we need to celebrate more as a group, but every time we score, I can't not go to the fans because I feel like without them, it wouldn’t be as special, especially when we were in the 70th minute and kind of losing momentum a little bit.

“We had the fans, through and through, and it lifted us again. Obviously, it's been hard for us at the minute, being in the position we're in. But to have their support, week in, week out, even when we've had the games at the start of the season that we're losing, the fact that they're still coming and cheering us on, it goes a real long way.”
