Julie Thibaud Signs For LCFC Women

LCFC Women can confirm the addition of defender Julie Thibaud from French Division 1 Féminine outfit Bordeaux for an undisclosed fee, subject to league and international clearance.

The 25-year-old centre-back arrives on Filbert Way with a wealth of experience having enjoyed six successful years in the top division of French football.

Thibaud is a highly experienced and accomplished ball-playing defender and makes the move to the Barclays Women’s Super League having made 88 league appearances for Les Girondins.

Speaking to LCFC.com, Thibaud said: I am very happy to sign for this Club. I feel like I can grow as a player and as a person here. This league is the future of women’s football and I want to be part of that.  

“We have everything we need to succeed here. We have a beautiful stadium and amazing facilities at Belvoir Drive. For me, it’s new to play in this kind of stadium and I’m looking forward to meeting the fans.”

The defender has made over a century of senior appearances in France.

Born Niort, France, Thibaud began her career close to home with AS Échiré Saint-Gelais before attracting the interest of Soyaux. A successful four-year stint followed before she made the move to fellow Division 1 Féminine outfit Bordeaux.

Thibaud arrives in the top-flight of English football with over 120 senior appearances to her name as the Club continues to bolster its defensive options heading into the new campaign.

Recognised for her talent on the world stage, Thibaud has earned three caps for the France national team having competed in the 2023 France Tournament against Demark, Uruguay and Norway.

She will now link-up with Willie Kirk’s squad for pre-season preparations ahead of the opening weekend of the WSL season, which sees the Foxes take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Sunday 1 October (2pm BST kick-off).
