Having kicked off their pre-season schedule by hosting Barclays Women's Championship side Charlton Athletic a week ago, Leicester City continued preparations for the new 2023/24 campaign with a match against fellow Barclays Women's Super League outfit Man Utd.
The hosts took the lead early in the contest when Ivana Fuso sent a low shot into the bottom corner, assisted by Hannah Blundell, and the Red Devils doubled their advantage close to the half-time interval, courtesy of Martha Thomas' finish from a Nikita Parris cross.
New Belgian recruit Janice Cayman made an appearance against the Manchester club.
But the Foxes rallied after the break and halved the deficit with 20 minutes to play. A long ball was flicked on by Sam Tierney to Shannon O'Brien and her centre found youngster Denny Draper. The forward, initially denied by Sophie Baggaley, had summer signing Lena Petermann following up to send the ball beyond the 'keeper.
And Willie Kirk's side then managed to find an equaliser late on. Another O'Brien cross, this time from the right, was again met by German striker Petermann, whose effort was blocked, but fell kindly for Academy player Simone Sherwood to convert first-time from close range.
Shannon O'Brien had a hand in both of Leicester's goals.
That's how it finished in Manchester, with LCFC Women at home to WSL outfit West Ham United in their next pre-season encounter on Sunday 3 September (2pm kick-off). A round-up of the action will be available on LCFC.com following the conclusion of the fixture.
LCFC Women Season Tickets are now on sale ahead of the season kicking off away at Bristol City on Sunday 1 October (2pm kick-off), followed by the first home game at King Power Stadium against Everton on Sunday 8 October (3pm kick-off).
