Leicester’s remarkable run in the FA Cup come to an end on Sunday when a late goal from Martha Thomas in extra-time broke City’s hearts, ensuring Tottenham Hotspur's place in next month's final.

But the Foxes can be proud of their display in north London and following the game, Rantala gathered her emotions to speak on a topsy-turvy afternoon.

“I’m very disappointed but still very proud of the team,” the forward opened with. “We fought until the end until the unfortunate last-minute goal. It’s disappointing but we're feeling proud still.

Sunday's action from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as the Foxes were beaten in extra-time of the Adobe Women's FA Cup Semi-Final.

“We made history to get this far, and of course we wanted to get to a final, but it is what it is now, and we’ve got to take the positives from this game.

Rantala opened the scoring against Spurs with a fantastic first half effort, and City's No.8 explained her thoughts after receiving the ball on the right wing and finding the net in style.

“I can’t remember who I got the ball from,” she admitted. “But I decided to cut inside and go one against one, get my foot open and shoot and thankfully it went in.”

The Finnish international was also keen to praise those who made the trip to the capital and kept the noise coming from the away end all afternoon.

“It means a lot to have the fans today,” Rantala explained. “I appreciate them a lot, and I’m grateful that they’re here, and it’s nice to see people here with my name on their shirts. It’s important to us that they’re here.

“I think we’ve seen on social media that the group is growing and having the support of the fans give us a lot of energy which we’ll continue to need.”
