Young Foxes Victorious On Final Day

The Leicester City Under-18s beat Aston Villa 4-2 on the final day of the U18 Premier League season to cement an eighth place finish.

City's youngsters ended their 2023/24 campaign on a high, beating their West Midlands' neighbours by a two-goal margin at Bodymoor Heath Training Ground as Kirsten Otchere scored twice.

The Foxes turned around a run of four losses on the bounce, most recently falling to defeat against Fulham at LCFC Training Ground before claiming victory over the Villans, but it was the hosts that took the lead 24 minutes in through George Hemmings.

Leicester responded quickly and found themselves in the lead by half-time thanks to a Toby Ononaye strike on the half-hour mark, before Otchere, assisted by Tommy Neale, scored his first of the day eight minutes later.

The Under-18s gave themselves a two-goal cushion with a little over an hour on the clock through Jake Evans, who scored twice in the Under-16 Premier League Cup Final victory over Manchester City the week prior at King Power Stadium.

Luka Lynch made things nervy by bringing a goal back for Villa with 10 minutes to go, but those nerves were settled down again by Otchere's second goal of the day in added time to see out the win in Warwickshire.

The final day win sees Leicester finish eighth in the Southern Division, with 28 points from 25 games, three ahead of West Bromwich Albion in ninth, while Aston Villa finished second bottom, ahead of Reading on goal difference.
