Barnes And Lawrence Pick Up Awards On Loan

Leicester City duo Harvey Barnes and Tom Lawrence have both received recognition for their superb efforts while out on loan at MK Dons and Ipswich Town respectively.

Lawrence, a Wales international, has spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan at Portman Road and has, to date, made 36 appearances in all competitions for the Suffolk-based outfit. The wideman scored nine league goals for the Tractor Boys to help them retain their Sky Bet Championship status.

His strike against Queens Park Rangers earned him a Goal of the Season award, while efforts against Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End were tied for second place. Lawrence was also presented with the Players’ Player of the Season award after settling in well under Mick McCarthy’s management.

Barnes, meanwhile, was named as the MK Dons Young Player of the Season after scoring five goals for his adopted club in Sky Bet League 1, most recently against Walsall on Sunday afternoon. The 19-year-old joined the Dons in January following an approach from former Fox Robbie Neilson.

Before Christmas, Barnes appeared for City’s first-team in the UEFA Champions League group stage at FC Porto. That followed a breakthrough year for Barnes among the Development Squad. Barnes scored five goals in 10 matches in Premier League 2 while adding another two in the UEFA Youth League.
