The 29-year-old defensive midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal at King Power Stadium, having been with the La Liga side since 2013 – including two appearances against the Foxes in last season’s UEFA Champions League.

As a consistent and influential performer, Iborra’s four seasons in Sevilla saw him lift the UEFA Europa League trophy on no less than three occasions, while clocking up more than 170 appearances across all competitions.

Iborra becomes Leicester City’s second signing of the summer, following the addition of Harry Maguire from Hull City last month and will link up with his new team-mates ahead of a pre-season training camp in Austria next week.

All smiles as Vicente Iborra pens a four-year deal with the Foxes.

Speaking exclusively to LCFC, Iborra said: “I’m very happy to be here with Leicester City and I’m looking forward to experiencing the Premier League with my new team-mates next season. Everything about this Club seems good and it’s been great to meet my new team-mates. I’ve already spoken with them about the city and the Club so I can’t wait to get started.”

Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare added: “I’m absolutely delighted that Vicente has joined us. He’s player with such a good pedigree from his time in Spain with Sevilla and he adds some really strong competition to our squad.”

Valencia-born Iborra began his career with Spanish side Levante after progressing through the youth system, where he quickly established himself as a key member of the squad in a defensive midfield role.

At 6ft 3ins, Iborra is an imposing presence in the centre of the park, and when he added goals to his already impressive performances, with seven strikes in 2012/13, Sevilla were persuaded to make a move for him that summer.

Iborra featured heavily in each of his four campaigns with Sevilla and continued to find the net from his deep-lying midfield position. He scored 30 times in total – including a hat-trick against Celta Vigo last term.

With Sevilla, Iborra captained the team for the last two seasons and lifted the Europa League in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
