Steve Beaglehole’s youthful side have enjoyed a valuable three-day training camp on the Channel Islands this week and capped off their stay with a second friendly victory over Jersey in the space of just three months, courtesy of strikes from Admiral Muskwe and a Trialist.

The Foxes will return to the East Midlands on Wednesday afternoon before facing Leamington FC in another friendly fixture at the New Windmill Ground on Friday 14 July (7:45pm kick-off). In Jersey, Muskwe opened the scoring for Leicester with a neat finish after just 14 minutes.

The hosts levelled the scores swiftly but, early in the second half, Leicester’s Under-23s resumed their advantage. Beaglehole handed a debut to new signing Sam Hughes while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Josh Knight and Max Bramley also featured after agreeing new pro contracts at the Club.

Muskwe, 18, will be especially pleased with his contribution in Jersey. The forward is continuing his recovery from a jaw injury which was sustained after scoring a brilliant brace during the 2-2 Premier League 2 Division 1 draw with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in March.

Hamza Choudhury, Faiq Bolkiah, Layton Ndukwu and Lamine Kaba Sherif, another to have committed his future to City this summer, were all rested for the clash after picking up knocks. Meanwhile, Harvey Barnes, Elliott Moore, Daniel Iversen and Callum Elder have joined the seniors in Austria.

City U23s starting XI: Bramley, Knight, Hughes, Trialist, Wood, Hammond, Dewsbury-Hall, Martis, Watts, Gordon, Muskwe.

Subs: Debayo, Stolarczyk, Pascanu, Eppiah, McLeod.
