City twice fell behind against an experienced outfit, who had German international İlkay Gündoğan among their ranks, to register their fourth point of the Premier League 2 season.

Layton Ndukwu and George Thomas struck for the visitors during another encouraging display by Steve Beaglehole’s men, following the 1-0 success at champions Everton last week.

Evaluating the performance with LCFC TV, Petty said: “It was looking like it was going to be a really difficult night, especially after going 2-1 down in the second half.

Petty Pleased With Spirited Display

Ben Petty says his side performed well to get fight back and earn a point against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium after conceding a goal early on.

“All our plans changed again. It goes to show that when you stay at it, your shape is good and you work hard; you can get something out the game. The last 10 minutes were certainly ours.

“We’ve asked for more goals from midfield. We’ve got some good attacking midfield players, we bought George from Coventry and we know Layton’s got goals in him too.

“I was delighted to see them on the sheet tonight.”

Sometimes you have to change it to get back in the game and the three substitutions were terrific.

Beaglehole and Petty brought on Khana Leshabela, Josh Eppiah and Liandro Martis in the second half and, as a result, the visiting Foxes carried an increased threat late on.

“That’s what you want from your substitutes,” Petty added.

“You want them to make an impact and credit to the three who came on, it wasn’t anything against the three that had to come off.

“Sometimes you have to change it to get back in the game and the three substitutions were terrific. Credit to Beags [Beaglehole], he makes the decisions, they were three great substations.”
