Darnell Johnson will be City's captain during the tournament, joined by fellow defenders Josh Knight, Sam Hughes, Alex Pascanu and goalkeeper Daniel Iversen.

Last year’s Sevens top scorer, Belgian striker Josh Eppiah, joins the squad once again alongside fellow forwards Admiral Muskwe, a full Zimbabwe international, and Josh Gordon.

City Lift Hong Kong Sevens Trophy

Leicester City's Development Squad are presented with the Main Cup at the 2017 HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens.

Midfielders Lamine Kaba Sherif and Layton Ndukwu will also represent the Club in Causeway Bay during what promises to be an exciting weekend of competition.

While City will be more familiar with Brighton & Hove Albion, local sides HKFA Red Dragons and Singapore Cricket Club will pose different challenges as they attempt to qualify from Group D on Saturday.

Petty, who has won the competition with both Aston Villa and Leicester City over past seasons, said: “Following the experiences of last year, the whole group is looking forward to the trip.

"After what has been a successful season for the Development Squad domestically, we're now aiming to end the campaign with a piece of silverware in Hong Kong.

"The experiences of playing out there, with the weather and travel, is great for the Club's young players and will play a key role in their development.”

Johnson, City's skipper, added: "All the boys enjoyed last year's tournament, the fans and the occasion were fantastic and we're excited by the task in front of us.

"It's an honour to be captain, regardless of the tournament or what game it is for Leicester, so I'm delighted to have been trusted with the role.

"This competition allows you to learn a different style of football. You gain a lot of experiences that players like us can use going forward in our careers.”
