Joining from Norwich City this summer, the Foxes attacker has featured in both friendly games against Notts County and Akhisarspor.

In training, Maddison has looked sharp and with three more fixtures to come before City’s Premier League campaign gets underway at Old Trafford, he says he is raring to go.

“It’s been brilliant, we’ve had lovely weather,” Maddison told LCFC TV. “It’s been tough. It’s been hard as you would expect in pre-season.

“We had the game Wednesday and it was good to get another run out, more minutes in the tank. They’re more valuable minutes and that’s what you need in pre-season.

Maddison Hails High Quality Training Sessions

James Maddison speaks to LCFC TV after training in Austria for the final time on Friday.

“We’re getting to that stage now where it’s all about the match minutes. We’ve got the fitness stuff into our system and it’s all about the games now. They’re coming thick and fast so this week has been only positive.”

Claude Puel’s men trained for the final time in Velden on Friday before they make their way to Klagenfurt to take on Udinese.

“It’s been high intensity [in training],” he continued. “Sometimes, when you train and play in the heat, it can have an effect on the training performance levels because it’s so hot.

“You need to have more breaks to hydrate and little things like that, but it’s been really good. It’s been good quality as well.

“The quality has been very high and the intensity has been very fast. It’s been good.”

City fans can watch Saturday’s game at Wörthersee Stadion (2pm kick-off BST) for free on LCFC TV – a fixture Maddison knows will be a testing one.

He added: “It’s going to be a difficult challenge of course. They’re a good Serie A outfit. It’s good to test ourselves against different sorts of teams.

“We’ve obviously played against a Turkish side on Wednesday, there’s an Italian side, a Spanish side coming up, a French side as well and we played Notts County. We’ve had a real range of opponents and that can only benefit us in the long run.”
