Leicester City Players & Staff Attend Khun Vichai's Funeral In Thailand

Following an emotional Premier League victory at Cardiff City on Saturday, Leicester City’s players and staff travelled to Bangkok, Thailand for the funeral of Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the Club’s beloved Chairman who tragically lost his life alongside four other people last weekend.

The Foxes arrived at the Buddhist Sala Kawi Niramit Debsirindrawas Temple on Sunday evening to pay their respects to Khun Vichai, a man who had such a profound impact on their lives.

During his Chairmanship, Khun Vichai’s personal guidance, as well as his professional dedication to achieving the Club’s goals, inspired Leicester City’s players to unbelievable success.

His charitable contributions to life in Leicester, meanwhile, will forever be remembered by the people of the city, many of whom came to love him as one of their own.

But it was his warm-hearted nature and thoughtful leadership style which forged such a truly unique and special bond with the Club’s players.

That relationship between Chairman and players was evident in the scenes which followed Saturday’s fixture at Cardiff as players, staff and fans came together to celebrate Khun Vichai’s life at full-time.

Upon their evening arrival at the Sala Kawi Niramit Debsirindrawas Temple, the players offered condolences to Khun Vichai’s family - wife Aimon and children Voramas, Apichet, Aroonroong, and Aiyawatt, the Club’s Vice-Chairman who is affectionately known as ‘Top’ by the Leicester City family.

Upon entering the temple, the travelling group approached a floral tribute in Khun Vichai’s honour, including an eight-sided urn which was bestowed upon the ceremony by Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

The squad then joined the Srivaddhanaprabha family for Abhidhamma recitations, the chanting of the Higher Teachings of the Buddha.

The sacred ceremony will continue for several days as the people of Thailand mourn Khun Vichai’s passing and pay tribute to the positive influence he had on so many lives around the world.
