Puel Provides Fitness Update For Saints Tie

- Leicester City host Southampton in the Carabao Cup Fourth Round on Tuesday (7:45pm GMT kick-off)
- Claude Puel has provided a fitness update on four of his Foxes players ahead of the game
- Harry Maguire (knee), Rachid Ghezzal (leg) and Daniel Amartey (ankle) are set to miss the tie
- Vicente Iborra is also a doubt after being substituted in Saturday's match at Brighton

After defeating Fleetwood Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers so far in a competition they've won on three occasions, the Foxes entertain Mark Hughes' men with a fifth round tie against Manchester City awaiting the winners.

While Vicente Iborra's fitness remains in doubt after the Spaniard was forced to leave the field in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion, Puel has been able to confirm the situations of Maguire (knee) and Ghezzal (leg). 

"I need to see my players, to look at their recovery," Puel said. "We have [James] Maddison with a sending off [one-game suspension] and injuries for Maguire, Ghezzal, [Daniel] Amartey and Iborra.

"I don’t know for the moment which players we can use against Southampton but I am sure we will carry on with spirit. Maguire and Ghezzal will not be available. 

"The cup is important for this squad, important for the Club, and it’s important to carry on because we may achieve something at the end of the season.

"We will give our best like every time and we have to manage all the difficulties."

Last week, meanwhile, Puel confirmed that Amartey could spend multiple months on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle injury in last month's 1-1 draw with West Ham United.
