City’s next three matches sees them face Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday (8pm GMT kick-off), before tackling a rejuvenated Manchester United side at King Power Stadium and title-chasing Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium.

“That second half [in a 4-3 defeat by Wolves last weekend] showed how we can play when we’re at it,” Barnes told LCFC TV.

“This season already we’ve taken some good results against the big sides so I think we will be optimistic going into the games looking to take points out of them.”

Barnes: Switching Off Cost Us

Harvey Barnes gave his thoughts following the 4-3 defeat to Wolves in the Premier League.

After falling 2-0 behind against Wolves inside 12 minutes, following goals from Diogo Jota and Ryan Bennett, the Foxes fought back after the interval and levelled matters thanks to a well-taken Demarai Gray strike and Conor Coady’s own goal.

Jota’s second then put Wolves ahead for the second time in the game, before City skipper Wes Morgan headed home to make it 3-3 in an attempt to secure a point for Claude Puel’s outfit.

However, in the third minute of injury time, Portuguese attacker Jota completed his hat-trick to secure a win at Molineux Stadium for the hosts.

“In first half we weren’t at it and that showed,” Barnes added.

“Obviously, we’ve gone into the break 2-0 down and we needed a reaction and I think second half we provided that, but in the last minute we switched off and that’s cost us.

“Everyone is gutted we’ve lost the game in the end, if it finished 3-3 it sort of feels like a win coming from two down, but obviously there’s disappointment conceding that last goal. Of course, everyone’s heads are down but we’ve got to focus on the next game now.”

Barnes’ first Premier League start saw him play a significant part in City’s second goal, as his strike took a deflection off Coady and found the back of the net.

He continued: “For me it was a great moment, it got us back in the game and I felt we had a lot of momentum then. They got themselves back into the game so it was an up and down game, but it’s disappointing.

“I think the loan did me really well in the first six months, and coming back in I’ve got a lot confidence. I feel part of the group and hopefully I can just kick on for the rest of the season now.”
