As Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace approaches, Claude Puel has called for Leicester City to close the gap between their impressive performances and eventual results.

- Leicester City must learn to accumulate points from their positive displays, according to manager Claude Puel
- City host Crystal Palace at King Power Stadium on Saturday (5:30pm GMT kick-off)
- Live coverage of the game can be found on LCFC Radio from 3:30pm GMT

While City have put on some productive displays against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, they have returned just one point from those fixtures.

Puel was pleased with the way the Foxes acquitted themselves during those games, but says the must begin to be ruthless in front of goal if they are to climb the Premier League standings.

“I think, of course, we need to join now the performance and the right result at the end. Of course, we need points. It’s a normal thing. We have two games at home, and it will be important to find again the good result for our confidence and to continue this good work.

“It’s not to change [this work], it’s to continue this work, these good performances and to have more opportunities to finish. We have had a lot of chances in our last games. We played a contender for the league and two games away.

“I was pleased with our performances on the pitch without the fair result. We have to continue this way. We need more end product to find the good clinical edge. These good performances did not have the right result at the end.

“The most important thing is to play good football and have lots of chances against great teams and to find the clinical edge for good reward at the end. All the players have made good improvements to take calm, composure and control in the box. We have quality in the squad, I am optimistic.”

With three midfielders, he (Youri Tielemans) is a good option also. Of course, I was happy about his game, but I was happy about all the performance of the team. We just lacked the most important thing, the result

Claude Puel

Puel spoke highly of Deadline Day signing Youri Tielemans, who made his City debut during the 3-1 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium last time out.

The manager said of the Belgium international midfielder: “He is new. He’s not a defensive midfielder, he is a midfielder that is box-to-box. He can bring his quality. He has a good shot, he can score and he can give assists. He can give a good fluency to the game.

“With three midfielders, he is a good option also. Of course, I was happy about his game, but I was happy about all the performance of the team. We just lacked the most important thing, the result.”
