- Rodgers says every player contributed to the Foxes’ 3-1 win over AFC Bournemouth on Saturday
The Foxes are so far unbeaten in all competitions, having earned eight points from four Premier League outings and beaten Newcastle United on penalties in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
While Rodgers has been pleased with his side’s application in 2019/20, the Northern Irishman knows there is still plenty of hard work to follow for City.
Rodgers said: “We’ll review the pre-season and how we’ve started and there will be areas to get better, but it’s an incredible bunch of boys here that want to improve and be better and they want to fight.
“I’m very proud of the start they’ve made, but that’s all it is, it’s a good start so there’s a lot of work to do.”
A man that has been in fine form this term is striker Jamie Vardy, who has scored three goals and registered an assist in his previous two Premier League outings.
“You know that he’s one of the top strikers in the league and when you have that you know you’re always in with a chance,” said Rodgers of City’s No.9.
“His finish was unbelievable, his first one, you’ve seen them go over the bar, they go wide, but from that far out to find the corner was absolutely amazing.
“And the other two goals, he’s made a great run, crossed it so he’s had an assist for the second, and he gets the third.
“It was very much a team performance [against AFC Bournemouth], everyone fighting, running and impacting. The impact subs coming off the bench, Marc [Albrighton] making his first start. There was a real intensity in our game, and everyone contributed.”
