City's youngsters triumphed at Academy Stadium in Manchester courtesy of goals from George Thomas and George Hirst to propel them up to fourth in the Premier League 2 Division 1 standings.

It was Leicester's fourth win in a row in all competitions and their seventh fixture unbeaten and Beaglehole, the Club's Senior Professional Development Phase Coach, was thrilled at full-time.

"I’m very pleased with the performance," he told LCFC TV. "The pitch was great, there was a lot of moisture on it, so it suited a team like Manchester City, who can move the ball about.

"They’ve got some really good technical players, very mobile, nimble players, so I was very pleased that we kept a clean sheet.

We said at half-time that we need to be more ruthless, more clinical, and we scored two fantastic goals. I thought George Thomas was the best player on the park tonight.

"I thought there was some excellent examples one one-v-one defending, which you’ve got to be able to do if you’re going to play at the level we’re expecting some of them to get to.

"So, that was very pleasing. I thought we huffed and puffed a little bit in the first half. We didn’t really press them as we wanted to do, I thought we were a little bit too far off.

"They had pockets of play in that first half, but again, I think we should have gone in ahead. In the second half, we controlled the game, we always looked a threat when we got in the final third."

City's second-half improvement was particularly pleasing for Beaglehole, who noted how dominant Thomas and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were in the middle of the pitch.

"We said at half-time that we need to be more ruthless, more clinical, and we scored two fantastic goals," he continued. "I thought George Thomas was the best player on the park tonight.

"To say that, in the company of the likes of [Tommy] Doyle, who played very well in their first team, says a lot for George.

"He’s been excellent as a captain and his game’s grown. His set-play delivery was good, he scored again, and in the second half, George and [Kiernan] Dewsbury-Hall dominated in the middle of the park.

"They’re a good combination, a left-footer and a right-footer, they’re both intelligent, they give some solid base to develop attacks from."
