The Foxes are now unbeaten in seven, winning their last four in all competitions, and have climbed up to fourth place in the top division of domestic Under-23s football.

Thomas netted City's first at Academy Stadium, a composed finish from close range, while in-form striker George Hirst capped off a fine team move late on to seal all three points.

Reflecting on the result at full-time, Thomas, 22, told LCFC TV: "Obviously [we’re] delighted with the win. We knew it was going to be a tough game coming here.

Thomas: We Stuck To Our Game Plan

Leicester City Development Squad midfielder George Thomas spoke to LCFC TV following his side's 2-0 victory away at Manchester City.

"We know Man City are a great side, they pass the ball really well, they move quickly so we knew it was going to be tough defensively and I thought we stuck to our game plan and did the job.

"I feel like we’ve turned a corner. We had the two disappointing results with Liverpool and the Chelsea games where we conceded two late goals.

"We still drew the game and got something out of it, but we really felt they should have been wins.

George Hirst, Eps (Josh Eppiah) when he came on, Callum Wright, Adi (Admiral Muskwe), they all put a shift in today and worked really well for the team.

"Since then we’ve all sat down together, had a few meetings, tried to sort out what the problem is and I think we’ve turned the corner, [with] really good performances since then."

Asked about his goal, Thomas said it's far more important to secure points rather that seeking individual success, pointing to the efforts of his colleagues, but was pleased to contribute nonetheless.

"They’re the ones I normally don’t like, either!" he continued. "The ones where you’ve got loads of time to think about it, I normally overthink it but I’m happy to get the goal.

"More importantly, I thought the team did really well. "We stuck in and then we managed to get one at the end, which I think is the most important thing.

"It’s always nice to get a bit of recognition but I’ll keep going back to the team, especially the forward players today.
