In City's first game back since mid-March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a superb 90th-minute strike from Ben Chilwell was equalised by Craig Dawson's bicycle-kick in the final three minutes.
The behind-closed-doors encounter was the first opportunity in 103 days for Rodgers to see his Foxes side engage in competitive action and, on the whole, the Northern Irishman was pleased.
"Well, it was a brilliant strike by Ben and I thought we got, at that point, what we deserved in the game," Rodgers told LCFC TV at full-time in Hertfordshire.
"In the second half, we were the team on the front foot and okay, apart from Kasper [Schmeichel] making great save in the one vs. one, we were the team forcing the game.
"I thought, fitness-wise, we were very good. The goal was an absolutely fantastic strike."
However, the Leicester manager admits he was disappointed by the nature of Watford's equaliser, coming just three minutes after Chilwell had seemingly sealed his side's 17th win of 2019/20.
"Yes, it was just unfortunate," he continued. "It was probably the only way that we were going to concede. A long throw into the box, or a corner.
"It was just unfortunate that the luck went against us because if you analyse it back, the ball hits the centre-half's foot.
"He doesn't know and it pops up and the guy gets the finish. So, yes from that perspective, it was disappointing.
"To come here, it was always going be difficult, especially the position that they're in, so we should have had three, but we'll take the point and then we'll move on."
Rodgers also pointed to individual phases of play across the whole game which pleased him - and he believes it bodes well for the Foxes over the next eight Premier League fixtures.
He continued: "I said to the players (before kick-off): 'It's been nearly, what, four months since we've played a competitive game? So, go and show the qualities in the team.'
"I thought that after a bitty start, I thought the first 10 minutes... it was too frantic. I think the game's changed a little bit after that. So yes, we had some good moments.
"Some good moments of play and looked a threat the whole game. And, like I say, it was just unfortunate that after taking the lead, we just couldn't see that through."
