On the back of four successful outings for Leicester City, Brendan Rodgers is looking to see the Foxes continue that momentum against Arsenal on Saturday, despite Mikel Arteta's outfit also enjoying an upturn in fortunes.

The King Power Stadium clash, a 12:30pm BST kick-off, sees two of the Premier League's most in-form sides meet in an encounter with could leave either team level on points with fourth-placed West Ham United at its conclusion. Rodgers, though, says there is another gear which City can reach.

"After the international break for us, the concentration was based around the process of getting results, as opposed to just the results themselves," the Northern Irishman said on Friday afternoon. "We’re keeping our eye on the ball and just making sure that we’re focused on how we’re performing.

"I don’t think we’re not quite at the heights, but we’ve certainly regained a winning mentality – that spirit and commitment. We’re seeing, in spells, the quality of our game. Obviously, it’s still very early on in the season and we’ll see that, hopefully, returning over the course of the season.

"We’re gradually getting back towards our level. I’m honest enough to look at it to say we’re not playing quite to the level we would want to be, but it’s such a long season. We’re returning to that and that’s a great indicator of the players’ spirit.

"Even when you’re not quite at your best, we can get victories, so we just continue on that path."

They are a fantastic club, Mikel's done a terrific job in there, and shown his qualities. Whenever they've had any bumps along the road, he's always been able to turn it around and get them back on track again.

The Gunners have secured consecutive eighth-placed finishes over the past two seasons, the same period which has seen Leicester in fifth both years, but Rodgers believes Arteta is equipping the north London outfit to meet their lofty expectations.

"Arsenal are one of the elite clubs, one of the big clubs in this country and throughout Europe, so there's an expectation for Arsenal to be at the very top of this division," the 48-year-old continued. "For us, we're one of those teams looking to challenge that. We always try to be competitive.

"They are a fantastic club, Mikel's done a terrific job in there, and shown his qualities. Whenever they've had any bumps along the road, he's always been able to turn it around and get them back on track again. That's always a good sign of a good manager I think. For us, we measure on ourselves.

"We're about demanding from each other to improve, develop and continuing to challenge those teams that are at the top of the league. When you go into what would be deemed those elite clubs, that spotlight is on you, especially for Mikel going into his first job. I think he’s done really, really well.

The Gunners are unbeaten in eight games in all competitions under Mikel Arteta's management.

"It’s not always easy. Obviously, this season, there’s no European football, so he can get his coaching into the players. It was difficult at the beginning of the season because some players were out, but once they got the players in that they wanted, he and his staff have had the chance to work with them.

"You can just see that stability in the team. With the coaching and the level of the players they have, they have produced some really good results. I think he’s done a fantastic job and he will be learning all the time, about the players, and that consistency. He’s done really well."

Jamie Vardy has netted 11 league goals in 13 appearances against Arsenal through the years and the City No.9's work ethic in training continues to impress Rodgers. The 34-year-old is currently second in the Premier League scoring charts, beneath only Liverpool's Mo Salah.

"He’s a remarkable player," Rodgers explained. "It’s an elite mindset in terms of preparing himself every day. He knows the stage of his career he’s at. Just seeing that humility he has to keep running and keep working… of course, we have to manage that.

"That’s what we try to do to make sure he’s in a position to score and play how we plays. When he’s at that energy, when he’s fighting, and working, there’s not too many better. Until this point of his life, he’s had a remarkable career, if you think of when he turned professional.

That’s the beauty of [Tielemans]. He’s an incredible professional. His mindset is to play and work at the very highest level and that’s what he’s doing. He’s progressing and that’s what you want to see in your players.

"He’s still a really, really important catalyst for the club. He’s a great reference for a lot of the younger players in particular. There’s still lots of hunger in there, which is what you’d want."

Two other players to have impressed over recent weeks for the Foxes are Youri Tielemans and Daniel Amartey. While Tielemans has scored stunners, requiring entirely different techniques, in his last two league outings, Amartey has proven to be stable defensive figure for City too.

On Tielemans' displays, Rodgers added: "He’s doing very well. Obviously, he came in here in January 2019 and he’s progressed and established himself as one of Europe’s top midfield players, in the most competitive league in the world. I’ve always said about Youri that he’s only going to get better.

"That’s the beauty of him. He’s an incredible professional. His mindset is to play and work at the very highest level and that’s what he’s doing. He’s progressing and that’s what you want to see in your players.

"From a professional perspective, [Amartey's] been outstanding. He’s obviously been out for a period of time with injury. When I came into the Club, that’s how it was for him, he’d been out for a period of time.

Ghana defender Daniel Amartey has been a reliable presence for the Foxes in defensive positions this term.

"Of course, the system maybe didn’t allow him to come in, but certainly when you play with a back three, he’s a player that can fit into that. Every time he’s played, he’s never let us down.

"He’s played as a midfield player, as a full-back, and you need your outside centre-halves to be able to have no doubt they can step in and press the game and be aggressive. He’s got all of that. He defends the box really well and then, with the ball, he has a real sufficient level of comfort. He can pass it.

"I’ve been absolutely delighted with him. He’s played in some great performances we’ve had, big wins, and for Daniel it’s just that consistency to keep playing at the level. As a man, he’s a good man, he wants to train every day. He loves his football.

"He likes to have a bit of fun in there as well, but he’s always focused. He never has a lazy day in his training. He wants to work. He’s very focused in the training, so I’m absolutely delighted.

"That’s how we’ve always worked. We have some players that can come in and play well and he can come in and play at a really consistent level. It’s great to hear the supporters recognise that."
