First-half goals from Patson Daka, James Maddison and Wilfred Ndidi wrapped up the points in Group C of the UEFA Europa League, leaving the Foxes top of their pool with one matchday still to play. Rodgers, speaking afterwards, was thrilled with several aspects of the evening on Filbert Way.
"We returned to our football," the Northern Irishman told LCFC TV at full-time. "That was the key message leading into the last few days. Our football is about pressing high up the pitch and counter-pressing with aggression. When we do that, everything in our game is much quicker and faster.
"The positioning of the team was excellent, we scored good goals. We’re disappointed with the penalty, we felt it was a bit harsh, but overall, we showed good concentration in the game. It’s a good feeling to win the game."
The application of the players, both in training and on the field of play, plus the atmosphere generated by the Blue Army all impressed Rodgers on Thursday. The former Liverpool and Celtic manager says that link between performances and supporters is what defines the Club's home matchdays.
"We’ve worked really hard in these last few days, even though we’ve been recovering," he added. "The players deserve a huge amount of credit. It was more like us tonight. That’s what we want to see, especially on the back of our last game here.
"A big mention to the crowd. I think this is what Leicester City Stadium’s about.
"You have the supporters behind the team, the team respond to that, and then they get performances like that. They deserve a huge amount of credit also. You can see the tightness of the group, there’s teams with quality in the group, so we still have a lot of work to do."
Jonny Evans, meanwhile, was absent for City on Thursday, with Daniel Amartey stepping into his place at late notice, but Rodgers says the Northern Ireland defender is in contention to feature against Watford in the Premier League at the weekend.
"He should be okay for the weekend," Rodgers explained. "He’s felt it from time to time over this last few weeks and he felt it in the warm-up. The last thing I want to do is lose another player to an injury. Daniel Amartey’s been playing exceptionally well and he’s come in and done a great job.
"Jonny should be, hopefully, okay for the weekend."
