- Amartey's Ghana open against Morocco and Mendy's Senegal face Zimbabwe on Monday
- Iheanacho and Ndidi could feature in Nigeria's maiden fixture against Egypt on Tuesday
The African football extravaganza, last won by Algeria, sees 24 teams across six groups compete in five host cities for the honour of becoming African champions. It begins on Sunday when hosts Cameroon tackle Burkina Faso at Olembe Stadium, Yaoundé, in Group A.
Amartey is in the squad for four-time winners Ghana, who qualified as Group C victors. The Black Stars begin next Monday against Morocco in Yaoundé, before taking on Gabon at the same venue in Group C on 14 January and Comoros, in Garoua, on 18 January.
Amartey, a Premier League, Emirates FA Cup and FA Community Shield winner at the Club, has 34 caps to his name for Ghana - the last of which came in a pre-AFCON friendly against Algeria on Wednesday evening.
Elsewhere, Foxes team-mates Ndidi and Iheanacho are also hoping to play prominent roles for Nigeria, who won the last of their three AFCON titles in 2013. After finishing top of Group L of qualifying, the Super Eagles begin their campaign against Egypt at Roumdé Adjia Stadium next Tuesday.
Clashes with Sudan and Guinea-Bissau, also both in Garoua, then await Nigeria in Group D. Ndidi has featured on 43 occasions for his country, while Iheanacho is on 38 caps.
Mendy, on the other hand, is also in contention to represent Senegal at the competition.
The Lions of Teranga, Group I winners in qualifying, have been placed in Group B. They begin their tournament at Kouekong Stadium, Bafoussam against Zimbabwe on Monday. Then it's Guinea on 14 January and Malawi on 18 January for the two-time runners-up, who were beaten in the final in 2019.
