Manager Brendan Rodgers was satisfied with Leicester City's performance in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.

- Leicester City drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace at King Power Stadium on Saturday
- The result leaves the Foxes 19th in the Premier League with five points from 10 matches
- Manager Brendan Rodgers praised the 'solid' defensive performance from his side
- He also looked ahead to Thursday's second successive home match against Leeds United

The Foxes tested Vicente Guaita on several occasions in the lunchtime kick-off in the Premier League, but could not plot a way through to secure their second win of the season. Rodgers' men moved up to 19th in the standings on five points after 10 matches in 2022/23.

"I thought it was a good performance," the Northern Irishman told LCFC TV. "We were solid in our defending. I think we restricted a really good team to one opportunity and Danny [Ward] made a really good save. Odsonne [Édouard] is a very talented player.

"When he’s in those positions, I’ve had him for a number of years myself (at Celtic) so I know his quality when he arrives there, so Danny did well to make the save. Apart from that, we didn’t give away much. We worked the ball really well into that attacking third of the pitch at times.

"We created some opportunities and we just failed to make that count. Performance-wise, it was a good performance, but of course, you want to win the game, especially at home. We pressed the game really well on a hot day.

We arrived into good areas in the field and then it’s all about that little bit of quality and that individual quality and combination play that can get you in.

"In the first half, I felt we maybe gave them too much room. [Joachim] Andersen was able to split up the game and then put them into the final third, but once we addressed that at half-time, we reinforced [the need for pressing]. That seemed to help us in the second half."

Harvey Barnes, James Maddison and Patson Daka all had chances for the home side, alongside others, but it wasn't to be on Filbert Way. Rodgers admitted he was frustrated not to break the deadlock on Saturday, but was pleased with the commitment on show.

"We arrived into good areas in the field and then it’s all about that little bit of quality and that individual quality and combination play that can get you in," he explained. "We just weren’t able to do that, but the players’ effort was there. The commitment was there in the game.

"They fought, they gave everything against a good side, but we just didn’t have that extra bit to get the goal."

Jonny Evans was absent for City with a calf issue, as Daniel Amartey came into the XI. Rodgers says the former Manchester United defender is a 'doubt' for Thursday's home clash with Leeds United (8:15pm BST kick-off).

"He just had a slight rupture in his calf, so today obviously he wasn’t available," Rodgers said. "We’ll just have to see for Thursday. He’ll be doubtful for Thursday. We’ll see how he reacts over the next couple of days."

Ahead of that clash with Jesse Marsch's Leeds, Rodgers hopes the side can take confidence from their clean sheet against Palace.

"When you keep a clean sheet, it’s about the collective," the 49-year-old added. "I thought the guys at the front of the pitch pressed it really well. Then that gave us a good solid base to build from. I thought, as team, the players’ organisation and effort was great.

"We’re here to win games. We set the team to go and play and win and we haven’t quite managed that, but two clean sheets in the last three games is progress for us. We just need to find that extra bit of quality in the final third and, if we can do that on Thursday, that’ll allow us to get a victory."
